NEW RACE 8km: The course we have chosen represents an authentic trail race and should not be underestimated as “easy,” as it possesses all the characteristics that challenge a mountain runner.
The time limit for the race is set at 3 hours, a duration sufficient for anyone who participates with patience and perseverance to safely reach the finish line.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION: The race follows the circular route:
Nymfaia Tourist Pavilion → 1.2 km dirt road → 4.1 km mountain trail → 200 m dirt road with the aid station at 5.5 km → return via 1.7 km mountain trail → final 300 m asphalt to the finish at Nymfaia Tourist Pavilion.
(The first 2.2 km of the route is shared with the 40 km race, and the last 2 km is common to all races: 40 km, 17 km, and 8 km.)
ROUTE MARKINGS: The course is densely marked, using materials with bright colors or small signs displaying the race name or the organizer’s logo. Additionally, the standard trail markings (blue/orange paint) help guide participants in the correct direction, as they were originally placed for hikers on the mountain trails. Losing the correct path does not carry a penalty, as it cannot give any advantage to participants who get lost. However, it is dangerous for the runner, as they may end up in steep areas of the mountain where search and rescue teams may not be able to locate them.
