The race route consists mainly of paths.
The course is well-marked and signposted. Additional markings will be placed in the days leading up to the race to ensure the route is as clear as possible.
The race course follows the circular route:
Nymfaia Tourist Pavilion – Test Base – St. George’s Chapel (Parcharia) – Kanoni – Elevation 564 m (Flag) – and return to the finish at the Nymfaia Tourist Pavilion.
The features of the run are as follows:
Distance: 17 kilometers
Positive elevation gain: 780 meters
Despite the fact that the race has no participation criteria, the athlete who will participate must know the demands of running in a mountainous environment and have the required technical training and physical condition of an experienced mountain runner.
ROUTE MARKINGS: The marking of the route is dense and the materials used have characteristically bright colours or small signs that state the name or logo of the race and the association. Also, the regular marking of the path (blue / orange paint) helps the athletes to hold on the correct direction. Loss of the correct path does not have as a result a penalty, because it cannot in any case benefit the athletes who may be lost. But it is dangerous for the athlete himself, as he is likely to find himself in steep parts of the mountain, without being able to locate him by search & rescue crews.
