The rules are simple and can be summarized as follows:
The route is circular and located within the Campus of the Democritus University of Thrace in Komotini, 5 kilometers away from the city center.
The starting and finishing point is near the open athletics stadium, and the total distance is 6.7 kilometers.
Each circle starts every hour.
The organizers are required to notify the athletes 3, 2, and 1 minute(s) before the start of the next circle.
All athletes must be at the starting line and begin the circle exactly on the hour. Anyone who is late must hand in their number and will be disqualified from the race.
In other words, each athlete has exactly one hour to complete the 6.706 km loop, rest, refuel, change clothes and equipment, and start the next circle on time.
Time and energy management are the key factors that determine the continuation in the race.
The route will be marked.
No athlete is allowed to leave the route unless they have completed the loop.
Accompanying persons and pacers are not allowed on the race route.
One and only supply station will be located at the start/finish area under tents. In case of bad weather, provisions have been made to move the station indoors.
Athletes should plan ahead and have all necessary items for transitions during the race.
For athletes continuing into the night, the use of a headlamp and spare batteries is mandatory.
The supply station will always provide water, isotonic drinks, and Coca-Cola.
Athletes must bring their own container or cup for beverages.
Bananas, salty and sweet snacks will be available for the first four hours of the race. After that, food will be provided for as long as the race lasts.
Trekking poles are not allowed.
Live timing will be available throughout the race, along with two athlete checkpoints with timing mats along the route. Anyone attempting to cut the course will be automatically disqualified.
The winner is the last person to complete the circle.
All other participants are technically classified as DNF (Did Not Finish).
If no athlete completes the circle on their own at the end, there is no winner!
